The San Jose Convention Center was just recently expanded to set San Jose apart from the rest as a top choice for events and meetings. The expansion added a Grand Ballroom, outdoor event area, better technology, and made arrival a lot more pleasing for attendees

It’s highly versatile since they’ve joined forces with nearby venues, opening up your options in terms of what environment you hold your event in. You can choose to show off your trade show displays provided by Blazer Exhibits on the show floor, while also offering presentations in another area entirely for those who are interested in attending.

The facility has its own parking garage complete with eight electric car charging stations and is conveniently connected to two hotels. If neither of them can accommodate you, choose from five more hotels all comfortably within walking distance. Their friendly staff is there every step of the way, assisting you with every last detail, customizing experiences so that everything works with your needs in mind.

In terms of facilities, they are all managed by Team San Jose. In all, they are responsible for the management of the San Jose Convention Center, the Convention Center Loading Dock, Grand Ballroom Loading Dock, Kitchen Loading Dock, Parkside Hall, South Hall, San Jose Civic, the Montgomery Theater, the Center for the Performing Arts, and the California Theater. That means they really can help manage virtually every aspect of your event, including special outings!

The walls are able to configure to whatever your function calls for, with their largest room able to be divided up into 6 separate meeting rooms. All exhibit space is column-free, as are most of the meeting rooms. If the inside just isn’t good enough, consider holding your event outdoors on one of their four outdoor terraces or outdoor plaza. Size ranges from 3,900 to 6,300 square feet.

Where To Eat

If you must get out to wine and dine a prospective customer, there is not shortage of options. Try Scott’s Seafood Grill & Bar, just 0.14 miles from the convention center. With locations all over California, they serve delectable cuisine ranging from steak, chicken, vegetarian, and of course, seafood dishes in an upscale-casual environment. Try the Dungeonenss crab cioppino for a real treat. If you ask the locals, they will tell you this is the perfect spot to unwind after work while sipping on a martini. They also feature an extensive wine list.

If Asian cuisine is more your style, consider Mosaic in the historic downtown Four Points by Sheraton San Jose Downtown. You’ll be treated to contemporary Aian fusion options like honey walnut prawns, Mongolian stir fry, and the crispy duck egg roll, a favorite appetizer among visitors.

To enjoy a more traditional dining experience, choose The Grill on the Alley. This is the go-to restaurant for business lunches in the entire area, offering hearty choices like prime rib, braised short ribs, chicken pot pie, and seafood options. The ambiance is very San Jose – you’ll find vintage photos adorning its walls.

For a casual, relaxed atmosphere try Original Joe’s. They’re a diner and Italian restaurant wrapped in one, complete with tuxedo-clad waitstaff. Enjoy burgers, pastas, steaks, and more whether you’re sitting at a table or at the counter (the must-have seats), where you’re able to watch the action in the kitchen. Try Joe’s special: spinach, hamburger, and onion scrambled eggs. If eggs aren’t your thing, there are many pleasing options to choose from in this fun, New York City-style restaurant.

For authentic Greek fare, try Nemea Greek Taverna. Whether you choose the braised lamb shank over orzo pilafi and Myzithra cheese or another of its traditional Greek and Mediterranean options, you’ll be treated to the best Greek food the area has to offer. Don’t forget to save room for one of their amazing desserts!

What To Do

Taking a walk through San Jose is easy – it is known as one of California’s most walkable cities. Check out the wildlife along Guadalupe River Park’s many trails, or take in the city scenery downtown. You’ll find many events at various times each year, such as the Cinequest Film Festival, Japanese Obon Festial, and the San Jose Mariachi and Mexican Heritage Festival, to name a few. How about strolling through one of the city’s various museums, like the Peralta Adobe & Fallon House. These buildings were built 100 years apart, and each tell the tale of the city’s history. If you have the kids along with you, consider taking them to the Children’s Discovery Museum, a 52,000 square foot place for kids to just have fun and visit with their favorite characters like Clifford the Big Red Dog. If you have a passion for all things tech, The Tech Museum is the spot to visit. You’ll see how technology affects all of our lives through over 100 hands-on exhibits and an 8-story IMAX dome theater.
