In the last 10 years, more and more diseases are being discovered. Several virus strains are evolving into stronger ones. These happenings around the globe, although we may not see and feel it happening, are events that concern all of the humanity. With the rate that these viruses and diseases are evolving, scientists in the field of Pathology and Biochemistry and different pharmaceutical companies have to work hand in hand to develop cures and medications and improve medical practices at an equally faster rate.

In line with this global need with great importance, the DIA or Drug Information Association is an international, nonprofit, multidisciplinary association that fosters innovation for improved health and well-being worldwide. DIA provides international professionals a neutral and transparent forum for the exchange of ideas and collaboration to improve health globally through the advancement of lifesaving medicines and technologies. DIA offers knowledge resources and forums on product development, regulatory science, and therapeutic innovation for professionals in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device communities.

Every year, the DIA holds an Annual Meeting event to gather professionals in the healthcare industry and companies related to wellness and healthcare products, big and small. The event aims to foster discussions on how to push forward the improvement of global health.

With this year’s theme, Driving Insights to Action, the DIA aims to push boundaries by not just providing a platform for discussion but also to generate actionable steps that will help the health and life sciences community develop and distribute health care advancements throughout the world.

Included the 5-day annual event was the 3-day expo where participants from pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device communities from over 50 countries showcased the most recent advancements that are ready to help the public in different aspects. Here, each participating company had the chance to fully showcase their products and connect with other companies that could foster partnerships.

Over 450 companies participated in the expo. For this year’s Annual Meeting, Chicago trade show displays and trade show booth designs showcased the talents and creativity of Chicago design and rental firms.

Also on the list of events was the Onsite Career Fair which was a complimentary event. This part of the Annual Meeting aims to help job seekers connect with employers face to face. For the job seekings, it was not just a matter of sending their resumes. There were onsite interviews that made their attendance a fruitful one.

Truly, events like the DIA Annual Meeting is not just for mingling and connecting to widen one’s professional network. These kinds of events are intrinsically important as they foster much deeper and valuable discussions for the betterment of their cause. In the field of life sciences and healthcare, it is vital that each and everyone in the community contributes in improving the services, products and practices. This will not be possible if a platform like the annual meeting doesn’t exist.

For those who are interested in taking part in next year’s event, DIA is already open in reviewing topics. Deadline for submission is on July 14, 2017, at 6 pm EST. You may visit their website here for more information.
